type='text'>Thursday, September 11th</title><content type='html'>&lt;strong&gt;10 Rounds for time:&lt;br /&gt;2 - Skin the cat/ 6 k2e&lt;br /&gt;6 - Archer ring pushups&lt;br /&gt;20 - double unders&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Good workout today but my body is still very sore from yesterday. I tried the skin the cat before we started and could do it but during the workout I couldn't get them so I subbed for k2e's. Those archer ring pushups were hard, did them from my knees but I could feel them working and will feel them tomorrow I'm sure. I did 75lbs for my squats. The first 5 of every round were ok but the last 5 were a bit more of a challenge. I did them all though so thats what matters! Bench press I used 20lbs. I originally went for the 15lbs and then changed my mind. I always seem to underestimate myself! This one felt like torture, especially being on the rower. 320 meter row doesn't seem like that much but every time I was on there I felt like I was going to puke. Then from there bench press as many reps as you can. Oh my god! I did 50 lbs and managed to get out 19 the first round which I was pretty happy with. After that I can't remember but by the last one I'm pretty sure I only did 9. I decided at the beginning that I was going to do all of the box jumps and all of those rope climbs with no modifications even if I was the last one done, which sure enough... The first couple of rounds were ok but after that I was getting pretty exausted. Climbing that rope was hard as I have only done it once and took so much of my energy! I was half way up on my last round and felt like I couldn't pull myself any higher. My arms were on fire and my feet kept slipping off. I was frusterated and pretty close to giving up but I could hear a few voices yelling at me to keep going. It was my first 5k run and I really had no idea how long it would take me. My goal was just to do the run without stopping and I did so I was pretty happy with that! You get 7 sec. to move to the next station. Set your time for 30 sec of work and 7 sec of  rest or use the rest period to help reach your goal. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When I got to the box I looked the board and it said 42 rounds! I wanted to go leave and go back home to bed but thank god it ended up being seven rounds all together... still hard but not 42! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There were alot of people there so the workout took about a round for everyone to get the hang of what was going on. Once we did it seemed to go pretty smoothly and there was tons of energy! We went in sets of 3's for 30 seconds at each station. I dreaded every time I got to the damn wall balls and SDHP stations. I found both to be pretty tough. The wall balls take some coordination which I am lacking lol and  after about the third round of sumo lifts I was having a hard time getting the bar to my chin. Other than those everything felt pretty good. My cleans were frusterating as usual. I got a few good ones in there and then decided to add ten pounds because I have been doing the same weight for a while. I let my mind take over and and couldn't even clean the bar up. I seem to always tell myself I can't do these and don't know why...Pisses me off!&lt;br /&gt;Anyways burpees weren't fun. I had Chad coaching me and he wasn't going easy. I had to get my chest to the ground and if I didn't I was redoing them. Damn you Chad! (but I liked it!) I had to do double the amount of pullups because I had to modify to jumping. I did the dips from the box with feet elevated instead of the bench which was a first for me and it took everything I had to get that tenth one out! Deadlifts felt like the easy part of this workout, the ab wheel by far the worst...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After class I stayed for MMA. I really like that class and look forward to getting good, or at the very least look like I know what I'm doing! I was partnered up with Hollie and she almost knocked me over more than once with her kicks and punches, my god she is strong! I hated the pullups and the K2E's and ended up breaking them up. I waited till the very end to do the rower which I shouldn't have done because I had no energy left. OHS with the stick were no problem compared to the rest of this workout. I came back to the box at 7:30 and did martial arts for the first time and really liked it. It was so much fun working with Leanna and Hollie and learning some of the kicks and punches. It was pretty awesome having so many people at the box at the same time. Lots of great energy and motivation!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I used 20lb dumbells for the clean and jerk. The one minute on felt like it was never going to end but the minute rest went way too quick. Skips were fairly easy as we did 800 singles instead of 200 DU's. Burpees were hard and tiring. I was trying to get as close to the ground as I could and it sure made a difference compared to how I was doing them before. The front squats felt really good and I was pretty happy getting up to a whole 83lbs! haha. Only having two to get through at a time works well for me, after I do one, just tell myself ok one more to go!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The sandbags were awesome. I was pretty pumped because the last time I worked with the sandbag we had to get them from the ground to our shoulder twice and I couldn't do it. I could get the bag to my chest and then I would drop it. Now I can get that damn thing over my shoulder and do lunges! I went over a bunch of excuses in my head why I should take the day off but then decided to suck it up and go. I was pleasantly surprised when I came in, checked the board and saw this!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;K2E &lt;br /&gt;Hanging DB cleans 20lbs&lt;br /&gt;Box Step Ups&lt;br /&gt;Ab Wheel Rollouts&lt;br /&gt;Push Ups&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This workout was tough and I was wondering how the heck I was going to get through it after the third round! DB cleans were hard for me as usual... shrugging too early. It ended up being a fantastic day and everything went pretty smoothly. It was nice having a four day break from crossfit and my diet but I felt kind of guilty at the same time. It's nice getting the WOD out of the way in the morning and you then you don't have to think about it for the rest of the day. Bad part is that it's not posted that early so you don't have time to mentally prepare! I ended up with 10 rounds plus pullups, K2E and pushups.  My DU's are improving and I can now do them with a skip between each one. The elevated pushups were HARD.. There weren't enough stations so I had to use dumbells for the squats which I didn't like at all. I only did 40lbs but I know I could've done alot better with the bar. I actually found the dumbells to be harder and trying to get them both up to my shoulders was kind of awkward after a while. During the workout I did the modified version of the rope climb and then decided after class give the rope a try. So by the end each person will have done 50 power cleans, 70 Burpees and run 2km.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This was such a good wod. I love doing the partner workouts as they really help keep you motivated. Ruth was my partner and she did a great job! I don't think there was an easy element to this workout... I felt like my technique was decent for once on my power cleans. I liked all the exercises we did today. I managed to get in seven rounds in twenty minutes which felt more like an hour! It was the first time I had done this exercise and I am glad Mia was there spotting me because I probably would've ended up with the bar on my chest! I felt so weak doing 40lb but it was a struggle. The run was actually a nice break in between. Back squats were good. I am actually starting to like doing them. (I never thought I would say that)! Having the box step ups in between sets kept my heart pounding the whole time. The 50 pushups were hard and I had to stop a few times. The wall balls were pretty hard. I wasn't getting low enough in my squats and I wasn't close enough to the wall because a few times the ball would bounce off and hit the ground. We got there around 11:30 and headed up the mountain. Everyone started off quite a bit quicker than Sherrie and I but knew what to expect and didn't want to use up all my energy right away. At about the first quarter I ended up on my own. Luckily I brought my i pod with me so I had some music to help keep me motivated. I really tried to keep moving for the most part but I stopped for about 30 seconds at every quarter to catch my breath and have a drink. I didn't want to waste too much time standing around as I really wanted to beat my time of 1 hour 8 minutes from Saturday. The last quarter was definatly the toughest for me as it's the steepest and by that time my legs were burning and I was exausted. I got through it and ended up making it up in 1 hour 5 minutes. I thought my time was going to be better but I know I did my best so I was satisfied with it. I let him choose the workout...what was I thinking! The first rounder was short but I was pretty tired after it. I never would've thought 3 minutes of working out would make me tired! The second round was rough. The easiest parts for me were the squats and skipping. The pushups were bad and in every round after about the tenth pushup I wanted quit. The worst part was the run though. I don't recommend running in 30 degree weather wearing black pants! I didn't really know what to expect so I asked a few people who had done it before what it was like. They told me how challanging it was and a few of them said they would never do it again. I was feeling pretty intimidated and was thinking about calling to cancel. I have never even been on a hike before let alone hike up a mountain in 30 degree weather! Anyways, I thought about it more and decided I wasn't going to let my fear get in the way. I went for it and am really glad I did. We managed to get up the mountain in 1 hour and 8 minutes staying at a pretty steady pace. Jesse could've done it alot faster but he stuck with me the whole time. When we got to the top I felt great and couldn't stop smiling. The view was amazing and I was feeling pretty proud of myself for getting through it even though I thought I couldn't. I actually don't mind them. I like most exercises with my legs as I find I am better at them. Then onto box steps. You think 2 minutes isn't long but when you are trying to keep a good pace going 2 minutes feels like forever. Leanna was standing there timing me and was encouraging me to keep on goin, so I was trying:)&lt;br /&gt;And then cleans. Ohhh more cleans..I hate these things and I always have trouble with them. I would do about 3 and then drop the bar. Then do another 3 and drop the bar again. It gets extremely discouraging when I know what I am doing wrong yet continue to keep doing it. I managed to get through them eventually. I used 15lbs for the split snatch but I'm sure I could've done 20lbs..I know for next time.&lt;br /&gt;It felt like my face was on fire the entire workout and especially when I was doing the ab wheel. I stayed bright red for about an hour after I got home. I was really trying to practice getting the technique right today. I don't understand how I can deadlift 100lbs but barely do a 20lb bench press...my arms need alot of work!!!! This is new for me as I just learned what a blog was. I joined crossfit about a month and a half ago. Before that I was spending 2 hours or more a day at the gym and getting extremely bored.  I also wasn't seeing any results and was getting very frusterated. Sherrie found crossfit online so we decided to give the bootcamp a try. The first few classes seemed pretty easy butI  found they got more challenging every time I came back. By the end of bootcamp I wasn't sure if I was ready for crossfit, I was scared but thought I would give it a try anyways.  I have to say that I am already hooked.&lt;br /&gt;I have never been into sports or challenging myself physically. I didn't even know how.  Slowly but surely, day by day I am learning...Some days are better than others.  I am also learning that it's not all what you are physically capable of, but alot of crossfit is a mind game. It's very interesting the power your mind has over your body. I have heard that from so many of the crossfitters and I am starting to see it first hand.
